A Little Piece of My Heart Pin

I saw a picture of a pin similar to this made of metal. Here is a reproduction in clay!

Materials
Instructions
  • Draw a large and medium size heart on paper. (Enlarge the pictures of these hearts and trace them if you like.) Use the paper hearts as a pattern over the Super Sculpey clay and cut out.
  • With the wooden skewer, use the round end to make circles around the large heart as shown. Use the pointed end to draw swirly designs on the smaller heart.
  • Apply the gold metallic powder to the large heart. (A small paint brush works well for this).
  • Apply the violet metallic powder to the smaller heart.
  • Attach the smaller heart on top of the larger one with glue. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, let cool.
  • Either free hand or with pattern cutters, make 5 oval leaf shapes, 3 flower shapes, and 2 large leaf shapes. Apply silver metallic powder to the oval leaf shapes, 2 of the flower shapes, and the large leaf shapes. Apply the violet powder to the remaining flower shape.
  • Glue the leaves and flowers as shown. Add a small bead or stone in the middle of each flower.
  • Here’s a close up of the designs drawn on the hearts.
  • Lay the pin on a flat piece of gold clay and use the craft knife to trace around it.
  • Add a gold rim of clay around the edge of the pin.
  • Glue a pin back to the back of the pin.
