1/12 Scale Dollhouse Ornament - By: Jenna Zadymov

This tutorial will teach you how to make 1/12 Scale Doll House Ornaments out of polymer clay.

Instructions
  • Roll tiny clay carrot. I used translucent sculpey to create glass effect as I’m making a Christmas tree icicle.
  • Insert a hook. I found great sewing pins with a ring on the end and cut most of the needle to fit my ornament. But you can make a wire loop instead, works fine.
  • Add some clay to secure the pin/wire. Roll a tiny worm and tap it into yor ornament.
  • Get a bag of tiny marbles (they come in 0.4-0.6 and 0.6-0.8 mm sizes, any one is fine) And place your ornament in the bag.
  • The beads will easily stick to polymer clay, especially if your hands are warm and almost make the clay melt. Something that you’d normally hate :) Sometimes I will just hold my ornament in hands longer so that it gets more sticky.
  • Get your ornament covered in beads and squeeze it from all sides so that they stick better. It’s easy to keep the shape for icicle or sphere shapes, but more complicated for stars for example.
  • Get your ornament out and bake. Then you can apply gloss finish to secure the beads, but it’s not necessary.
  • Here is my decorated 5″ Christmas tree. I’ve tried many colors of clay with clear beads and one looks better than the other when you can see colored ball of clay under clear glass beads. Or you can use colored beads, also looks great. If you are not a dollhouse person, you can use this technique to create cute beads.
