This tutorial shows how to make miniature pancakes, perfect for dollhouse kitchens, or just for display.

Instructions
  • First, we will make the plate. Roll out a ball of white clay, and flatten it. Then using a sharp tool, cut out a circle and smooth the edges.

  • Roll out a smaller ball, and then roll it into a thin snake.

  • Wrap the rope around the whole outside of the plate. Smooth the edges when the two ends of the rope meet.

  • Now we will make the pancakes. First, using a light brownish gold coloured clay, roll out some small balls. Roll out as many balls as you want pancakes.

  • Flatten each one of the balls into disks. But don’t make them too thin, because pancakes are a little thick.

  • Roll several more balls of a darker golden brown clay. Roll enough so there are 2 per pancake.

  • Flatten each of these balls into thin, irregular shaped circles. Flatten them so they are slightly smaller than the pancakes.

  • Place one of the thin plates on each side of the pancakes. This adds the illusion that the pancake was cooked on both sides. Gently press the plates together.

  • Stack the pancakes up on the plate, and make them a little unevenly stacked.

  • Now for the best part, the syrup! Roll out a thin strip of clay, and using a pointed tool, draw an irregular shape that looks like something has splattered on the floor.

  • Then, using your sharp tool, carefully cut out the syrup shape. Gently smooth out all the edges.Place on top of the stack of pancakes, and gently press onto the sides.

  • You can also choose to use different kinds of syrup. For a strawberry syrup, just cut out a red splatter shape, and for a blueberry syrup, cut out a dark blue splatter shape.

  • Cut out a little splatter shape from a flattened disk of light yellow, and place it on top of the pancake stack. Add two or three little squares of yellow clay on top, and now you have melting butter. Add some bits of syrup around the edges of the plate. There you have a stack of pancakes!
