This tutorial shows how to make a cake which can be used in a dolls house, or just used for display.

• First, roll out three balls of clay, two of them a golden yellow colour and the third a brown.

• Flatten each of them into thick disks, all the same size.

• Stack the three disks together, with the darker disk in the middle. Roll out a thin sheet of white clay and cut a circle out that is the same size as the top of the cake.

• Roll out five or six tiny dark brow balls of clay and then roll them out into very thin snakes. Line them up horizontally on the white disk. Press them into the white clay until they are as flat as the disk. Then, using a sharp needle tool, gently drag the tip of the needle through the clay vertically, but don’t cut through the clay. This gives the look of decorative icing.

• Place the icing disk on top of the cake. Roll out several tiny balls of brown and white clay and place them in a circle around the edge of the top of the cake. These will be little chocolates. Then using a sharp needle tool, texture the cakes sides.

• Cut out a small slice of cake and place it on a tiny plate.
