I was a bit curious to check the vivacious nature of combining crayons with polymer clay, which resulted in this project. You can think of creating so many things like pendants and other types of exotic vessels by mixing the unlimited colors that are available. Actually this piece is a miniature (1”x1.5”).
Materials
  • FIMO Soft Marble Clay (2 oz)
  • Crayons - Green Yellow, Turtle Green
  • Kato T-Blade
  • Sculpey Glaze Gloss
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Non-stick baking pan
  • Oven preheated to 275 degrees
Instructions
  • Chop crayon bits to a coarse powder. Mix with clay until it becomes uniform.

  • For the Jug, roll out a ball of clay, slightly pull upwards to create a neck. Cut to desired length with a Kato T-blade. Push a Tapestry needle vertically through the neck; slightly rotate it to create a hole. Pinch the corners to make the brim and at the edge. Make a thin handle by rolling clay and cutting exactly to the length of the jar. Roll the end to make a coil.
  • Attach the handle with the help of a needle. Making a tiny lid will complete the jug.
  • Roll out a small ball of clay, flatten it to make a saucer, Roll a thin strip of clay and stick it along the circumference of the saucer. Make a dent at the centre by creating an impression with the back of a crayon.
  • For the cup, roll a ball of insert a round brush and slowly rotate it to make a neat round inner surface. Make a small handle and stick to the side. Also stick a tiny strip of clay for the bottom to make it look daintier.
  • The sugar bowl is made just like the Tea cup, with a blunt handle and a lid similar to the one that is made for the jug.
  • For the tray, flatten a piece of clay to form a rectangle, smoothen it. Roll a thin strip of clay and stick around to make a border. Cut two small strips of rolled clay and fix for the handles.
  • Bake the pieces in a Pre-heated oven at 275 degrees. Apply Sculpey glaze gloss to create an Exotic piece of crockery. Do not bake it for a long time because the crayons will melt a lot. Bake it just enough to make it firm. The melted crayons will leave an interesting, bold pattern after it is done. Always do a test by baking a small ball of clay because colors will turn out brighter after baking!
